Redirect in Content Editor not working

Hi,

I hope I am in the right forum.  I am using Sitecore 7.5 and trying to redirect an existing item/page to a new landing item/page. 

In Content Editor I right-clicked an existing item and selected Insert->Standard content.  In this new landing item I went to Presentation -> Redirect and entered the /Home/ItemToRedirectFrom link in the pop-up box. 

When I try to visit the existing item it still displays the actual item - it does not redirect. 

I was told that the above method should work.  Any suggestions please.

  Hi,
  
  I use a different redirect module (create redirect items in a different way), but on that module for a redirect to function the original page needs to be deleted or unpublished.
  
  Do you know what's the name of the redirect module you are using?

  I tried to unpublish, of course, but the redirect doesn't work - when url hits the page it behaves as no page exists, same as a usual unpublish. I can't delete the item as this request for only a temporary purposes.
