Sitecore Standard Template: Advanced Section

This blog post contains information about the fields in the Advanced section of the standard template in the Sitecore ASP.NET web Content Management System (CMS) and Experience Platform (XP). For more information about the standard template and topics mentioned in this blog post, see the links in the Resources section at the end of this page.

The Advanced section of the standard template defines the following fields:

  • __Source (Sitecore.FieldIDs.Source): For clone items, identifies the cloned item.
  • __Standard values (Sitecore.FieldIDs.StandardValues): For template definition items, the ID of the item that defines standard values for the template. It seems that logically, this field belongs in the data template for data templates rather than in the standard template for all items.
  • __Tracking (Sitecore.Analytics.AnalyticsIds.TrackingField): For managing analytics properties associated with the item, including Profiles, Goals, and other Attributes (Campaigns, Events, Failure Actions, and Settings, including disabling analytics features for an item).

  • I need to set a default sublayout for a template. Can we use the __Standard values to set a default sublayout ?

  • @Prathamesh: Absolutely, I think that there are three things that you should almost always define in standard values:  -Layout Details -Initial Workflow -Insert Options  You could implement what you refer to as a default sublayout for the placeholder as a standard value for layout details for that data template.
